Dennis K. Ray
Chief Dennis Ray retired after 27 years of public safety service in the State of South Carolina as Assistant Chief of SC State Fire and Superintendent of the SC Fire Academy. Chief Ray began his public safety career as a telecommunications operator and training officer for Kershaw County E911 Communications in a county-wide consolidated center. Chief Ray began volunteering in 1991 with the Pine Grove Fire Department in Kershaw County SC where he still serves today. Chief Ray pursued a career in law enforcement after graduating with a degree in Criminal Justice with the Camden Police Department in Camden, SC. Chief Ray was hired by the SC State Transport Police to perform statewide commercial vehicle enforcement and was later promoted to the position of State Law Enforcement Liaison with the SC Office of Highway Safety. Chief Ray was then hired to be the career Fire Chief of his hometown fire department in Lugoff SC; a combination paid/volunteer department. Chief Ray finished his career before retiring with SC State Fire. Chief Ray has served on FEMA Grant Peer Review panels for AFG, SAFER, and FP&S Grants. Chief Ray has years of experience in many various areas of public safety and now desires to share that experience to help agencies in this consulting role.
